I just realised I completely missed my August and September favourites post due to moving into my new flat and uni stress and the months have flown by soooo fast recently, I can’t believe we are over halfway through October already.. THERE’S ONLY 10 MONDAYS LEFT UNTIL CHRISTMAS?! Seriously where has this year gone.. So I thought I would do a ‘Current Favourites’ post, basically all my favourites from August until now so it might be a bit more lengthy compared to my usual posts, apologising in advance for my rambling..
I have been wanting a new primer for a while now so I came across this one when I was in Superdrug and I had read about it being really good somewhere so I decided to give it a try. When applied to my face this primer does make my skin feel a lot softer and my foundation tends to apply a lot better. I have to watch how much I apply as it comes out white and if I use too much it goes on a bit white but other than that I’d recommend this primer especially for how cheap it is too!
2. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation – NW18
I have wanted MAC studio fix foundation for so long but I was always so scared incase I got the wrong colour or it just wasn’t as good as it was hyped up to be, however I recently went to Benidorm for my mum’s hen weekend therefore a browse in duty free was needed and of course there was a MAC and the prices were a bit cheaper than normal so I decided to bite the bullet and purchase it. The woman swatched a bit on my skin to help me find the perfect shade for my skin tone and I think the one I have is a little bit too dark but not noticeable therefore I can just tone it down with a lighter powder, plus when I’m wearing fake tan it suits perfectly. However I did forget to buy the pump to go with the foundation which was sooooo annoying as I find it impossible to use a foundation without a pump so as soon as I landed back home I had to go buy a pump and it is so much easier to control how much you use! I am in love with the coverage this foundation gives, I wouldn’t use it for every day wear but I prefer to just use it when I go out at night due to how expensive it is I don’t wanna waste it on just going to uni.
3. L’Oreal Infallible Foundation – 140 Golden Beige
If you have read my previous blog posts you would see that the L’Oreal Infallible foundation is my go to every day foundation, I absolutely love it!! However the first time I purchased it I purchased the shade 200 and it was a bit dark for my skin which I unfortunately didn’t notice for months, I then decided to try 145 which was noticeably lighter than 200 but still a little dark, at this point I really didn’t think I was gonna find the perfect shade but I LOVED the coverage this foundation gave so I was adamant I’d find a shade that suited me. Last month I found the shade 140 in Asda and I didn’t even know the shade 140 existed so I decided to purchase it and see if there was a difference and omg there is a difference! It is literally the perfect tone for my skin and I am soooo happy, I absolutely love my MAC foundation but theres no way I’d want to use it every day as I really don’t wanna use it up fast. If you’re looking for a medium to high coverage drugstore foundation this is the perfect one!
I have been watching Emily Canham on Youtube for a while now and she is always talking about how much she loves this concealer so I finally decided to purchase it as I’ve had my eye on it for a while. I love that this concealer has two different shades one for just face concealer and the other for under eye concealer. It feels really light on the skin but it covers spots incredibly, it also comes with a transparent powder which sets the concealer which I absolutely love. Definitely worth the price and definitely my new favourite concealer.
5. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – 604 Milk
When I was younger I used to heavily line under my eyes black, it was the most horrific look for me ever considering I didn’t wear much else makeup besides that, basically I looked like I had two black eyes.. Luckily I am by that phase and am scarred for life by black eyeliner under my eyes so much so that I won’t use pencil eyeliner ever anymore. I had heard that lining your waterline with white liner helps to make your eyes bigger and look more open and I have such small eyes compared to my face so I decided to give it a try. I absolutely love this NYX jumbo pencil, it makes lining your water line so much easier and normally I find pencil liners jaggy whereas this feels so smooth and it makes such a difference to your eye makeup, I can’t imagine not lining my water line white now.
I never use waterproof mascara and I had noticed recently when the weather was torrential rain I would come home and my mascara would be smudged quite badly under my eyes and around them so my flat mate Sarah recommended this mascara to me so I decided to give it a go and I am loving it so much. It makes my lashes so much longer and they look so much thicker as well as not smudging at all which is perfect after a night out when you come home and your eye make up is still on and not smudged one bit, can’t think of anything better than that!
7. Victoria’s Secret Fragrance Mist – Rush
This was another purchase in duty free but this time in Alicante airport on the way home from Benidorm. My holiday was over so I thought I better treat myself with my left over euros and what better than a VS spray?! After spraying practically all of the scents this one stood out to me the most, it smelled different to my other VS sprays and since I purchased it I’ve been wearing it every day, I’m not sure how I would explain the smell but Victoria’s Secret say that it’s “juicy clementine and crystal amber.” So we will go with that.
Sarah (left) sunglasses are also from Quay
Ever since I purchased my first pair of Quay sunglasses in London I have been in love with this brand. Unfortunately the pair I first bought snapped in Maga (cry) I loved them soooo much, so when I found out I was going away to Benidorm I desperately had to find another pair so whilst I was browsing on ASOS I noticed they had a Quay section and I came across the most beautiful sunglasses I had ever seen for only £35, I kept putting it off and off until my holiday got closer and I finally bought them when I got paid and I’m so glad I did, I am loving reflective sunglasses right now, unfortunately I’ve had to put them away until next Summer as I probably won’t see sun again until then but I’m excited to wear them again.
Left: Think Pink , Right: Mistletoe
Okay Okay of course lush bath bombs would be in my favourites again, but these were ones that I have never tried before and was intrigued to try. I’m not really a fan of the Halloween edition bath bombs, there wasn’t many that appealed to me so I decided to buy ‘Think Pink’ and ‘Mistletoe. Think Pink is described by Lush as, “No thinking cap is needed to realise that this candy-flowered bath companion truly adores you. Pop it into warm water and revel in the pinkened sweet tonka and comforting Fair Trade vanilla pool that unfolds. A sunny note of neroli oil complements soothing lavender to create a cheerful, yet calming heart-spangled soak.” I love the fact that confetti hearts float around your bath once this bomb has fizzled out, how cute! Mistletoe is described as, “Don’t get caught under the mistletoe this Christmas; pop it straight in the bath and leap in! A dizzyingly romantic, sweet-as-kisses bundle of heady jasmine and sultry vetivert begin your festive romance. As floral layers of colour fizz away they conjure up a nostalgic fairy tale fragrance that’s sure to sweep you off your feet.” Aw it smells so heavenly and looks soooo pretty like every other Lush bath bomb!
Boux Avenue is honestly the prettiest shop ever I want everything! From their underwear to their pyjama sets all the stuff is adorable. On my last visit they were hosting an event and were offering free Rosé on entry to the shop so of course I was enticed in and helped myself to a glass of Rosé, one glass later and I was purchasing 3 pairs of pants. However they were offering 3 pairs of pants for £12 which I just couldn’t resist and look how cute those pants are! They’re also doing this deal online which I didn’t realise and they have such a bigger selection, I may need to purchase some other pairs…. .the temptation is real!
Bardot tops are by far my favourite type of tops to buy, I think they are so flattering! When I was shopping for uni clothes I ordered 3 bardot tops from PrettyLittleThing and this chiffon one was included. Unfortunately when I first bought it it came with marks all over it so I had to send it back and was hesitant to buy it again, however there was a 25% sale on so I decided to repurchase it and luckily it came with no marks the second time. I am so in love with how nice it looks on and the tie on the sleeves makes it so much more flattering and girly.
I love Missguided and I love Sarah Ashcroft so of course when she collaborated with Missguided I just had to get my hands on some bits of the collection. Starting with the dress, yes it is just a plain black dress but it fits so perfectly, it’s off the shoulder and asymmetrical length but it is so flattering when it’s on, it hugs in all the right places and it’s 100% my new go to dress if I’m ever stuck finding something to wear which happens ALL the time. Next the lace up bodysuit, this came in a few different colours I think but I really loved the pink, it was suede also which was different from anything else I own. At first I was worried incase it was really low and booby but when it came it didn’t look low at all depending on how it’s laced! What I didn’t realise was that it was a thong bodysuit which worried me for starters incase it was very uncomfortable, however this helps soooo much when wearing it with a tight skirt as there is no major pant lines which you always want to avoid!
Chokers have became a big trend recently more than ever and I have never been a fan of jewellery like I never tend to wear jewellery when I’m out except maybe a watch if I remember to put it on but I decided to buy into the hype as I think they look reaaaally good on. I saw the diamond one first when my best friend Lauren was wearing it and I loved it so much therefore I decided to purchase it for myself. Of course I had to buy a plain black velvet one as they were definitely the most common however it can be worn with anything. I think a chocker is a statement piece with any outfit and theres not much they don’t go with.
14. Girl on The Train
I had to read the book as the film was coming out and I was hooked as soon as I started it. I have to admit it was very dark and twisted at points but I just couldn’t stop reading it. I am disappointed to say that the film was nowhere near as good as the book which was really annoying, it didn’t differ much from the book thought which was a plus point but I felt the film was so slow at the beginning but rushed towards the end.. I’d definitely recommend giving the book a read however if you’re planning on seeing the film go watch it first rather than reading it and therefore you won’t be too disappointed!
